….Gym Memberships Are a Ripoff
1. They advertise low prices but when you go to sign up, you soon discover it’s not the advertised price. Usually, it’s something along the lines that the advertised price is only valid for the first two months before it balloons to the regular rates, or you have to sign up for three-year, no-escape membership if you want the super-low price.
2. Unless you’re really keen, it’s difficult to get full value from a gym membership. At first, you go on a regular basis but, before long, it’s down to a couple times a week, and then once a week. Of course, that’s exactly what gyms want you to do because if everyone who joined a gym went every day, the place would be over-crowded - prompting everyone to cancel their memberships.
3. There are always better deals that are never advertised. For example, corporate rates tend to be much lower than those offer to a person walking off the street. Why is that?
4. People who sell gym memberships are usually on commission so they want to sell as an expensive package for the longest time as possible. It means they often don’t have your best interests in mind as opposed their own financial aspirations.
